About Nilavembu (Kalmegh / King Of Bitters) :-

    Kalmegh | Nilavembu also called king of bitters in English. Nila means soil and vembu means neem, the name exactly means a herb that grows close to the soil that is as sour as neem, nilavembu is very very tart, presently like neem. Andrographis paniculata is erect plant with height of 30–110 cm. Its stem is slender dark green, squared in cross-section with longitudinal furrows and wings along the angles.

    The lance-shaped leaves have hairless blades measuring up to 8 centimeters long by 2.5 wide. The small flowers are borne in spreading racemes. The fruit is a capsule around 2 cm long and a few mm wide. It contains many yellow brown seeds.

How to consume Nilavembu (Kalmegh / King Of Bitters) Internally:-

  • Morning – Mix 5 gms of powder in 100 ml water, Boil the content for few minutes. once the water gets warm, filter the content and drink it before food. Repeat the same for Evening Dosage after dinner.
  • Diabetic : A simple decoction made by boiling 15 to 20 leaves of fresh or dried kalmegh leaves in a cup of water till it is reduced in half can be used for treating diabetic patients.
  • Dengue :Take 1 part of a single papaya leaf, 10 kalmegh leaves, 5 peppercorns and 1 tbsp of palm candy powder, pound it once in a mortar and pestle and boil till it is reduced to half a cup. Drink it for 3 days in an empty stomach.
